Sailing Registration

This year, we are again offering three different groups, with sailors ages 8 to 15 invited to participate. Opti 1 is for beginners with no prior sailing experience who will learn the fundamentals of sailing, including rigging and boat maintenance, as well as basic sailing skills. Opti 2 is for more advanced sailors who will build on their prior sailing experience to strengthen sailing techniques and begin to develop racing skills. The Opti 1 and 2 programs will be held in the morning from 8:30-11:30am. Opti 3 and 4 and pixels will be in the afternoon 1:00-4:00pm.

The sailing program is five weeks of instruction, 4 days a week (Monday thru Thursday), plus Friday Fun Day for all sailors 10am -12noon. The Sailing program starts on Monday, June 25th and ends on Friday, August 3rd. The additional sixth week is for sailors who will miss days due to other camps & vacation. If your sailor is available all six weeks and signs up for the five week session, they can attend all six weeks with no extra charge.

Fun events this year will include an ice cream jaunt to Brendan’s 101, Crazy Costume day, a beach breakfast party, Pirate’s Day, and beach games like capture the flag (held on days when the weather is not cooperating). During the season, we also plan to hold three friendly Opti regattas with neighboring clubs – a great way to improve your skills, have fun on LIS and meet other local sailors.

This year's Head Sailing Instructor is Rosin Burke, who is returning for her third summer at Tokeneke. Maggie Dwyer and Scott Peters will be assistant instructors ; both are new to the Tokeneke Club Sailing program. Rosin, Maggie and Scott are very excited to be instructors at Tokeneke and cannot wait for this summer season! Opti 1: All first-time sailors, regardless of age, will start in the

Opti 1 program. The fundamentals of sailing will be taught: how to rig and launch a boat, points of sail, proper boat handling, etc.

Opti 2: This program is for sailors with a year or more experience who are ready to sail alone. Sailors will develop the ability to rig and launch the boat without any instructor assistance, will strengthen sailing skills, and improve boat handling.

Cost: 5 Week Program (including bonus 6th week) - $900, half of which will be billed April 1st.
